XCEED AT THE OPENING OF THE ACCESSIBLE COXWELL SUBWAY STATION

The XCEED powerchair is starting to make waves in the community. On March 1st, our good friend Raymond Dell’Aera, the chair of the Toronto Transit Commission Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) drove the XCEED prototype at the opening of the Coxwell Subway station, which is now fully accessible to disabled clients. Raymond was a huge help in early prototyping, providing critical ideas and advice toward product development. Some of the stations new accessibility features include fully functioning elevators, a dedicated wheel-trans bay, improved signage and wayfinding signs, and updated walkways and landscaping. This will greatly improve accessibility for disabled clients using TTC. The new station was easy to navigate with the XCEED, driven by both Raymond and Jen, and they were able to maneuver the new Wheel-trans buses, as well as the subway, gracefully. The compact size of the XCEED allowed Jen to make a full 360 degree turn while she explored the wheeltrans bus! Here are a few pictures from their visit!
