I use the Companion as an essential part of my daily mobility and independence. It connects to my wheelchair in seconds and lifts the front casters about 2-3 inches, creating a stable three-wheel system with powered front drive. This setup allows me to travel safely and efficiently for everyday needs and community activities.
I use my Companion for grocery shopping, dental appointments, restaurants, and trips to a nearby county park. I regularly attend First Friday concerts, the Thursday farmers market, and activities at the senior center. My typical travel radius is up to 6 miles from home. For example, when my van needed a starter replacement, I used the Companion to get home after dropping it off.
I also use it daily to walk my 1.5-year-old Cavapoo. We usually travel about 5-8 mph, which gives both of us a safe and enjoyable routine.
The Companion has also reduced the stress of air travel. I have used it on trips to Los Angeles, Providence, Pittsburgh, and Charleston. It helps me navigate airports quickly and reliably, especially when making tight connections. As someone who is often first on and last off flights, that reliability makes a major difference.
